Eric O’Daffer, Partner
Eric is a strategic executive with twenty years experience working for and partnering with most of the major distributors, manufacturers, health systems and group purchasing organizations in the medical products supply chain. He is recognized as an innovative leader finding new ways in new markets for the organizations he has led either in sales, operations or as CEO. He is known for his team building skills, integrity, recruiting, executive level selling, and the ability to connect the dots between all the functional areas of an organization through setting and managing a Vital Few Objectives process.
His career spans twenty years in the healthcare supply chain working for companies ranging from Fortune 500 manufacturers and distributors to pure start ups. Eric’s deep understanding of the selling cycle ranges from health systems and hospitals to small medical practices. His early career included selling hospital supplies for Baxter Healthcare and proceeded through roles in operations, marketing and sales management. He was then promoted into a National Accounts role for Baxter and then again to VP of Sales for Cardinal Health’s Hospitex Division which was merged into the Encompass Group in 1999.
In 1999, Eric moved to Seattle as the VP of Operations for the start-up Esurg Corporation focused on serving small medical practices. In 2003, Eric was promoted by the Board of Directors to Chief Executive Officer. He worked extensively with venture capital partners at Polaris and Bank of America in building Esurg. The company’s total focus was on bringing the benefits of group purchasing through innovative partnerships with Medassets and Amerinet to small medical practices saving 20% on average for the supplies they purchase daily. Extensive work in streamlining the membership process through technology and partnering with manufacturers and distributors led to recognition for Esurg as the NCI Healthcare Supply Chain Innovator of the Year and the Amerinet Small Distributor of the Year in 2006. Eric led the successful sale of Esurg to Fortune 500 Distributor Henry Schein in 2007.
Eric has specific expertise in building cost effective sales teams capable of significant growth with both in field and inside sales teams. Building sustainable and differentiated offerings for a market and building out the right sales strategy to leverage that advantage are hallmarks of his success. At Esurg and Hospitex, Eric’s expertise in building profit through operational efficiency and strategic pricing initiatives have greatly benefitted the organizations he has led.
Eric graduated from the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management with an emphasis in Marketing, Management and Strategy, and Entrepreneurship and New Business Development. He received his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Eric is happily married to his college sweetheart, Stacy, and they have a middle school aged daughter and two elementary aged sons. He is active in coaching youth soccer and basketball, Y-guides and teaching Sunday school at his church. Eric loves the outdoors, playing tennis and he trains for triathlons in the early mornings by biking, running and swimming.
